Babysitting

From Nic

Something I learned on Saturday: Julie is probably the best babysitter ever. A niece of a good friend needed some watching. Little did either of them know the adventure that would ensue.

They went swinging, climbing, and sliding on the play set.

They baked brownies.

They walked Neosho up and down the block.

They built forts.

They tumbled, and had pillow fights.

And she let me do some much-needed maintenance on our vehicles before I joined the fun. I only wish I had a babysitter like that when I was four!

incident, aggieville, and relaxation

this weekend was the annual mosier familiy reunion in manhattan. we tried to haul the motorcycle to manahattan for some off-roading while we were there. learned the hard way how not to secure the motorcycle on the back of a 4-runner. as we were getting out of town, the front tire of the bike slipped off the rack shattering our back window. set us back a few minutes, but we are thankful the accident happened while only going 20mph and not 75mph, no one was hurt, and there was only minimal damage to the bike and vehicle.

instead of the off-road park we spent the weekend walking around aggieville and relaxing and catching with family.

here are some photos from our afternoon in aggieville.

clearance section at varney's.

of course the trip wouldn't be complete without a latte at radinas.

and the winners are...

last weekend i was back in my hometown for my old dance studio's 25th anniversary alumni recital performance, performing a lovely rendition of chorus line. yikes. quite comical, really. i remember now how hot stage lights are, how butterflies are silly because no one is really watching you (except maybe your mom), and how much i do not like sweating. it's true, i try to avoid sweating at all costs, and really most types of exercise all together.

in between performances, i get an update on nic's weekend (see video below):

then i get a text: "i didn't win $20,000."

sad day. but that's okay, life goes on.

then i get a text: "but i got second."

FLIPPED OUT, called him and had to hear every last detail. in short, out of about 500-600 teams in the kansas city Nexus S 4G scavenger hunt, they lost the $20k by 6 points and beat the 3rd place team by 1 point, how amazing is that! he came home with some pretty sweet prizes and the well deserved victory that goes along being awesome.

i still can't believe this! congratulations!

we came to the realization that this is one of those stories we will tell our grandkids over and over and over again. not because we forget we told it, but because we want to relive the moment. i can hear the complains now, "yes, grandpa, you've told us about the time you jogged 7 miles around downtown kansas city, with that archaic phone with a, what do you call it? (an app), where you submitted pictures and answers, and you won 2nd place.... we know..."

also, the next plan is for nic to quit his job and become a full time scavenger hunter. i'm okay with that.

helicopters and the like

while visting family in florida over this glorious memorial day weekend, nic is living the little boy dream of flying!

sorry for the low lighting, we HAD to turn off the fan lights in order to land the helicopter on the fan blade. success.

unfortunately, we have no photos of us actually at the beach in florida, due to sparing our electronic devices from water damage.

happy memorial day weekend from florida!

bunkered in the basement

neosho and i under our basement stairs, surrounded by pillows, and comforted by the radio play-by-play of the storm's activity. bunkered in.

tornado season has commenced here in kansas city. take heed.
