crafty? handy? me?

definitely not. but, i am so thankful to be surrounded by people that are. for instance my good friend erica who does amazing photography work and my husband who has some pretty awesome drawings.

and my sister-in-law, well, she is amazing at painting, photography, being hilarious, you name it and she can do it.

my dear sister-in-law recently flew in from a far away state to help my mother-in-law overhaul her kitchen. i got to help [or be in the way]. i do admit, though not crafty or handy, it was quite wonderful to use the other side of my brain for a few days.

Goodbye popcorn ceiling!

I absolutely love this picture, perfectly captures the day

Finished product:

we have been working on our own little home improvement projects, what do you think for our walls, grey, grey, or grey? :) ridiculous, i know. but, color is just too loud for me these days.

i read somewhere that you should open your closet doors and use the colors you see as inspiration for your home wall colors, since those are the colors where you are most comfortable. grey it is!

i'll keep you posted on all the drama that comes with our remodeling decisions.

march 18, 2010

one year ago, march 18, 2010, was the day we closed on our house. i remember the house buying process to be a bit stressful. i loved the idea of taking a whole saturday and sunday to look at homes, but in actuality it was exhausting, frustrating, and unfruitful at times. on top of that, march 2010 was a critical time for the housing market with the home buying credit about to expire i (along with hordes of other first time home buyers) knew i had to act quickly.

my days were full of sneaking away from work to go look at houses and in the midst of busy audit season we negotiated an offer, got through lots paper work, the inspection, another inspection, lots of phone calls and alas we had purchased a home. well, got a nice big loan in exchange for this lovely piece of roeland park.

this picture was taken on move in day. nothing, no, not even a the winterly weather would stop us from getting out of apartment life and into a home. our home.

here's to year 2 in this beauty and all the memories that will come.

i'll leave you with a picture of our dog addition and storm door addition to this american dream we are living.
